Always remember that you must have a pond filter and UVC to make sure your pond is always clean clear and healthy. A pond filter alone does not ensure clear water. The suspended algae responsible for cloudy ponds is killed by an UVC (Ultra Violet Clarifier) so that the agglomerated algae can then be removed by the pond filter.

An UVC has no effect upon blanketweed.

5 Easy steps to building a pond for your goldfish

Step 1 - Laying out

Avoid overhanging trees, shrubs and water logged areas. Plan out with a hosepipe ensuring you are happy with the shape.

Step 2 - Levelling

Your pond must be level otherwise when its filled up the liner will be showing at one side when the other side is full.

Step 3 - Adding Sand

A layer of soft sand about 2" deep will protect the liner/underlay from any small stones as well as levelling the bottom.

Step 4 - Put in the Liner

Place underlay on top of sand, smooth/fold it into shape. Lay the liner on top of the underlay, smooth/fold it into shape try not to put the liner under any tension as you fill with water.

Step 5 - Finishing Off

Edge your pond disguising the liner. Add a pump, filter & UV to keep it crystal clear. Add plants straight away and fish gradually!
