Most pond equipment will need to be connected to mains electricity, even those items that are low voltage will need their transformer to be connected to the mains. If you are a competent DIY'er then this should he fairly straightforward but if you are in any doubt about the electrical installation then you should consult a qualified electrician.

It's worth considering what you will eventually need power for before you start installing so that you don't finish your pond, get it all wired up and then think "mmm.. I'd like some lights now".

The two main types of cable used around the pond are waterproof cable and armoured cable. Armoured is much thicker, very tough and usually goes from the house or garage to a junction box. More gardening products that will suit your need and pocket here...

Junction Box for Armoured Cable

Just like the 'normal' one but with a fitting for armoured cable on the 'inlet' from the house/garage.

Outlets are for normal cable to lead to the appliances.

The maximum load for each outlet is 360 watts, the total load on the junction box should not be more than 1200 watts.

Velda 4 Socket Adaptor ...remote control

This simple unit lets you plug in up to four electrical items and then turn them on and off by remote control. If this wasn't cool enough one of them has a dimmer switch so you can turn your fountain up and down (among other things). Outdoor Power Kit

...the simplest way to install electricity in the garden. A completely pre-wired kit with two outlets. Each kit has a junction box to be sited near the pond, an armoured cable leading back to the house/ garage, a switch box that goes on the outside wall and a 5m (16') 'normal' cable to go through the wall. All components are already connected so you don't have to do any of the wiring.

...individually fused. These stylishly designed junction boxes allow you to connect up to five electrical items to one cable.
